A Brief History of Jingle Cats:
Jingle Cats Music began in 1991 when a cat named "Cheesepuff" climbed into the studio recording booth chair and began meowing along to the tune of Jingle Bells which happened to be recording at the time. The engineers cracked up and decided to make a song out of it. The song was sent to KISS-FM and POWER 106 in Los Angeles and was played the next day, Christmas Day, on both KISS-FM and POWER 106. In 1992, Jingle Cats Music released a cassette of the "Jingle Cats" singing 5 songs: "Jingle Bells" (now part one of "Jingle Cats Medley"), "Carol of the Bells," "Up on the Housetop," "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and "Oh Christmas Tree." The cassette was first presented at the KLOS "Classic Rock Expo" in Los Angeles where the 100 copies sold out and the 200 copies of the "Jingle Cat Picture" sold out as well. The "Jingle Cat Picture" is now the cover of the Jingle Cats Meowy Christmas CD which was first released in 1993 and became the #1 Christmas record at Tower Records. In 1994, Jingle Cats Music released "Here Comes Santa Claws," which was a big hit. In 1995, Jingle Cats Music released the "Jingle Dogs: Christmas Unleashed" - also a big hit. In 2002, Jingle Cats Music released, "Jingle Cats: Rhythm and Mews." In 2008, Jingle Cats Music released "Jingle Dogs: Puppy Holidays" and the "Jingle Cats Christmas" DVD.
Jingle Cats and Jingle Dogs have been featured in the major Motion Pictures: "Mixed Nuts" starring Steve Martin, "Long Kiss Goodnight" starring Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson, and "Fred Claus" starring Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti. Jingle Dogs are featured in an eCard promotion for the upcoming Christmas Day release of the movie "Marley and Me" starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston.
Jingle Cats and Jingle Dogs have been seen on CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, Entertainment Tonight, E!, Extra, Access Hollywood, BBC, RussiaOne, AP, UPI, Reuters and nearly every television station on the planet. Jingle Cats are scheduled to appear on the NBC Network Dec. 22, 2008 in a Network Primetime Holiday show.
Jingle Cats and Jingle Dogs have been featured in the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Dallas Morning News, NY Times, Entertainment Weekly, People Magazine and thousands of publications throughout the world.
JINGLE CATS LEGEND:
According to the Jingle Cats Legend, each year the nine Jingle Cats ride with Santa Claus in his sleigh and sing holiday songs while Santa is busy dropping off gifts to the good girls and boys of the world. Rumor has it that some cats can hear the songs from far in the distance and they will wink at you around Christmas time if they hear the Jingle Cats are around in your neighborhood.
